In February 2013 I was invited for a talk in London on the societal impact of the Tnternet of Things. The workshop was organised by the British Computing Society and the Oxford Internet Institute. I presented a talk on what we currently know on the impact of the Internet of Things on society and how to distinguish the reality from hype. In my talk I exploredthe relation between the Internet of Things and organisations and provide examples from some case studies (library, pharmacy, distribution centre) as well as literature. In addition, I gave some guidance given to achieve a more realistic picture of how the IoT might influence society or vice versa.

Based on the contributions of the invited speakers a report was written. The report is now available online and includes also parts of my talk.
